I’m a South Georgia native from Midway, Ga., who retired from the US Army as a Major. I graduated from Georgia State University in 1997 with a BS in Criminal Justice. I went on to get a MS in Environmental Management from Webster in 2001 and a degree in Military Arts and Science from Air Command and Staff College in 2011. I have over nine years experience as a Licensed Public Adjuster. I’m an active member of the Georgia Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (GAPIA). Read More
After retiring from the Army in 2015, I sought an outlet to help with my PTSD. I always wanted to fish in Alaska but didn’t know how to start. So, I booked a trip and flew alone to Anchorage, Alaska in Aug 2018. While waiting on my connecting flight in Anchorage, I met a guy named George, and he told me his life story. When we arrived in Homer, Alaska, George’s sister, Nina Faust, was waiting for him and they offered me a ride to my lodging. We became quick friends and Nina and George gave me a tour of Homer, Alaska and also brought me to their home, which overlooks the whole city of Homer. The view was peaceful and relaxing. Once I returned home to Georgia, I promised myself I would return every year as long as I could manage it. As I went over the event and memories of my trip it dawned on me that the outdoor activities I participated in helped me to cope with my PTSD, and it could do the same for other veterans. Deep sea fishing in Alaska had healing properties in my life . It helped to change my perspective and deal with my feelings of anxiety. I knew that meant that it could also be hugely beneficial to others suffering from PTSD. I went alone again in 2019 and 2020. I experienced the same tranquility as before. The water was peaceful and the scenery was, again, spectacular. In 2021, three veterans accompanied me to Alaska. In 2022, nine veterans came along. I shared my experience with my wife and we decided that other veterans should go on this great outdoors adventure, but as a community. We organized and accomplished the task of creating Military Veterans Fishing Charter Inc., (MVFC) in 2022. It gives me inspiration to see veterans who have never been to Alaska experience the scenery, landscape, animals and great fishing for the first time. June 2-7, 2023, we will have some new faces in the group. This will be a pilot test to get feedback on how successful this trip is for them coping with PTSD. I am excited for what is in store for us this year!
Hi, I’m Randolph Bernard Butler, a military veteran and an enthusiastic fisherman. I’ve been fishing since I was a child, learning the ropes with my father, and it quickly became a passion that has lasted a lifetime. Fishing has always been a way for me to unwind and enjoy the peacefulness of being on the water. I go deep sea fishing twice a month whenever I can, and I also love to fish from the pier in my free time. It’s not just about catching fish; it’s about the whole experience.Read More
After serving in the military, I realized the importance of finding healthy outlets to cope with stress and trauma. Fishing was a significant part of that process for me, and I wanted to share its therapeutic benefits with my fellow veterans. That’s why I am proud to be a part of Military Veterans Fishing Charter Inc.. Through my charter service, we offer fellow veterans the chance to experience the joy of fishing while connecting with others who have served. Whether it’s a deep sea excursion or a peaceful day of pier fishing, I provide a safe and supportive environment where veterans can relax, unwind, and connect with nature. I’m proud to be making a positive difference in the lives of countless veterans through my love of fishing. It’s an honor to share my passion with others and provide them with a source of joy and peace that I’ve found so valuable in my own life.

I have always had the desire to educate and promote health. When an individual or community is informed, that information tends to spread. As a Public Health and Health Education and Promotion scholar and professional, I must be a part of ensuring that available information is reputable, easily understood, and accessible. My vision is to help educate, advocate, and empower people to prevent illness, maintain wellness, and manage and heal disease. I am passionate about empowering people to advocate for their health and wellness. I want people to gain self-esteem and confidence to be more actively involved in taking personal responsibility to seek information and take on the challenges associated with short-term and long-term health and self-care. I want people to be aware of the challenges of their own individual health journeys and within our healthcare system so that they are aware of the tools and resources available within their communities. I hope to help people heal mentally, emotionally, and physically and to gain more love and respect for themselves so they may treat themselves better and also the world around them.
I like to solve problems. Throughout my career, I have been driven by my intellectual curiosity to find answers to the some of the most simplest questions, whether helping my grandson with this new math or researching legal information to help others.
With my refined skill set, I bring a mindfulness approach that enables organizations to innovate and thrive—after retiring from the Army; I took these skill sets when I entered Corporate America.Read More
My intellectual curiosity also drives me to be a lifelong learner. I earned my BA from Regent University, with a concentration in pre-law, and looking forward to starting law school at Concord School of Law this summer. I wrote a book on coping with sexual trauma because of my personal experiences, I learned that using an alternative form of therapy such as fishing, does help you to relax and be in control even if it’s for a few hours. My Specialties With my passion for helping others, I saw this as an opportunity to help with the start-up of MVFC. Here, I can continue solving problems – whether operational, regulatory, strategic, or legal – and I wholeheartedly enjoy every moment of it. I love traveling worldwide, going on adrenaline-filled outdoor adventures, and discussing the benefits of helping veterans and others. At MVFC, I get to bounce ideas off to the Executive Board of Directors I could have bored you with all my credentials, yet I want to stress the importance of being part of organizations that help support other vets. I’m now contributing to a cause that affects so many, especially those dealing with PTSD/MST.
and help other veterans like me who also have PTSD/MST (military sexual assault)..
